The Laurels has been a firm family favourite on our many trips to Killarney over the years & a restaurant that we would book ahead every time to avoid disappointment!... read more
Upon arriving to the pub this trip, we were pleasantly surprised to find that there had been a large extension of the pub through to the back, which opened up into a sports-bar-like area - with plenty of tables, plenty of people & a great atmosphere!
Unfortunately, that was where our experience peaked.
The menu had changed significantly, with no crab claws (the best) or Irish stew (also a favourite) - the food we did have was average at best, with the lamb shanks being the only saviour on the table.
The service was slow, we waited 45 minutes for our food & there didnโt seem enough staff for the amount of people eating there.
We would recommend the front of the pub for drinks, however there are plenty of other establishments offering much better food & service. Sadly the Laurels will not be on our list the next time we come.
